Expert Solutions for Unwanted, Faded or Outdated Permanent Make-up

Permanent make-up should leave you feeling confident every time you look in the mirror—not disappointed or unsure of your appearance.

Unfortunately, that's not always how the story ends.

Perhaps your brows have faded to an unwanted blue-grey or red tone, the shape no longer suits your face, your eyeliner has migrated over time, or your lip blush isn't the colour you hoped for. You may even have had a recent treatment elsewhere and know immediately that something isn't right. Or perhaps you've simply changed your mind.

Whatever your reason for seeking help, you're not alone—and in many cases, there is a solution.

At The PMU Restoration Clinic, I specialise in the assessment, removal, correction and restoration of permanent make-up using a personalised, consultation-led approach. By combining advanced Q-Switched laser technology, Botched Ink® saline removal and corrective permanent make-up techniques, I create bespoke treatment plans designed to safely lighten, remove or correct unwanted pigment while protecting the health and integrity of your skin.

Every correction begins with understanding what has happened, why it has happened, and selecting the safest and most predictable route to achieving your goals. Because successful correction isn't about choosing laser or saline—it's about choosing the right solution for you.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach. Every treatment plan is tailored to your existing permanent make-up, your skin, and the result you want to achieve.

Your Options May Be Better Than You Think

One of the biggest misconceptions surrounding permanent make-up removal is that every treatment requires complete removal.

In reality, that's often not the case.

Some clients benefit from complete pigment removal.

Others simply need unwanted pigment gently lightened before creating fresh permanent make-up.

Some can achieve beautiful results through corrective permanent make-up alone.

Every face, every pigment and every treatment history is different.

That's why every restoration begins with a detailed consultation.

Why Every Treatment Begins With a Consultation

Unlike many clinics that offer only one removal method, I provide multiple treatment options and recommend the approach that is most appropriate for your individual circumstances—not simply the one I happen to offer.

During your consultation we'll assess:

  • Your existing permanent make-up

  • Pigment colour and undertones

  • Pigment saturation and depth

  • The age of the treatment

  • Previous correction or removal attempts

  • Skin condition and healing ability

  • Any scar tissue present

  • Your medical history where relevant

  • Your desired outcome

  • Whether laser, Botched Ink®, corrective PMU or a combination of treatments is likely to give the safest and most predictable result

You'll leave with a personalised treatment plan, realistic expectations and a clear understanding of the journey ahead.

Which Best Describes You?

PMU SOS

Emergency Removal

"I've just had my permanent make-up done and I know something isn't right."

Fresh permanent make-up requires prompt assessment, as treatment options are often time-sensitive. An emergency removal treatment must strictly be carried out within 48 hours of the original treatment. It is also essential that you have not tried any 'at-home' methods or remedies as this greatly delays treatment (8-12 weeks)

This pathway is ideal if you've recently had permanent make-up and are concerned about:

  • Poor shape

  • Far too dark (although fresh work is always initially darker)

  • Incorrect positioning

  • Uneven brows

  • Unsatisfactory colour

  • Immediate regret

PMU Revive

Lighten & Refresh

"I don't hate my permanent make-up—I just don't love it anymore."

Many clients simply need old pigment reducing to create space for beautifully refreshed permanent make-up.

Ideal for:

  • Blue or grey brows

  • Red or orange brows

  • Heavy saturation

  • Outdated styles

  • Colour correction

  • Preparing for new brows, lips or eyeliner

PMU Renew

"I'm ready for a fresh start."

For clients requiring a more comprehensive approach, PMU Renew combines carefully planned removal with beautifully designed new permanent make-up.

Your personalised programme may include:

  • Consultation

  • Individual treatment plan

  • Laser sessions

  • Botched Ink® treatments

  • Healing reviews

  • Corrective permanent make-up

  • Long-term support

Understanding Your Treatment Options

Laser Permanent Make-up Removal

Laser removal uses carefully selected wavelengths of light to target pigment beneath the skin. The pigment absorbs this energy, breaking into much smaller particles that are gradually cleared by the body's natural immune system over the weeks that follow.

I use a medical-grade AW3 Q-Switched ND:YAG laser, allowing treatments to be tailored according to the pigment present and your individual treatment goals.

Laser is particularly effective for many darker pigments and is often the quickest method of reducing unwanted permanent make-up.

Laser may be suitable for:

  • Brows

  • Certain eyeliner treatments

  • Selected lip pigments

  • Colour reduction before corrective PMU

Benefits

✔ Minimal trauma to healthy skin

✔ Short treatment sessions

✔ Excellent for many darker pigments

✔ Ideal before corrective permanent make-up

✔ Suitable for reducing heavily saturated work

Botched Ink® Saline Removal

Not every pigment responds well to laser treatment.

Certain colours may prove resistant or may react unpredictably when exposed to laser energy.

Botched Ink® offers an alternative approach by encouraging pigment to lift up and out naturally through the skin during the healing process.

It can be used as a standalone treatment or alongside laser as part of a carefully planned correction programme.

Botched Ink® may be suitable for:

  • Pigments unsuitable for laser

  • Shape refinement

  • Precision correction

  • Residual pigment following laser

  • Colour correction

  • Selected emergency removal following recent PMU

Benefits

✔ Suitable for a wider range of pigment colours

✔ Excellent precision

✔ Complements laser beautifully

✔ Can be appropriate for recent permanent make-up

✔ Ideal for smaller areas requiring detailed correction

Which Method Is Best?

Which Method Is Best?

One of the questions I'm asked most frequently is:

"Which is better—laser or Botched Ink®?"

The honest answer is…

Neither.

The best treatment depends entirely on:

  • The pigment used

  • The colour present today

  • How deeply it sits within the skin

  • How many layer of pigment are in the skin

  • What type of pigments are in the skin

  • The age of the permanent make-up

  • Your skin type

  • Previous treatments

  • Your healing response

  • Your long-term goals

Sometimes laser provides the fastest and safest route.

Sometimes Botched Ink® is the far better choice.

Often, the most successful outcomes are achieved by combining both techniques over time.

This is why I never recommend treatment without first carrying out a thorough consultation and treatment planning .

Correction Before New PMU

Complete removal isn't always necessary.

Many clients achieve the most natural-looking results by simply reducing existing pigment enough to create a clean foundation for fresh permanent make-up.

This may involve:

  • Softening oversaturated brows

  • Reducing unwanted colours

  • Improving existing shape

  • Removing migration

  • Creating space for modern, natural-looking permanent make-up

Wherever possible, my aim is to preserve healthy skin while achieving the very best aesthetic outcome.

Can This Be Corrected?

Every correction begins with understanding the problem.

This gallery showcases real clients, the treatment approach selected and the results achieved.

Rather than simply showing before and after photographs, you'll see the clinical thinking behind each decision.

Each case includes:

The Concern

Blue-grey brows after 8 years

Treatment Plan

Two laser sessions followed by one Botched Ink® treatment

Outcome

Beautifully lightened pigment ready for fresh powder brows

(Repeat for 6–10 real cases.)

Frequently Asked Questions

Does removal hurt?

Most clients describe treatment as very manageable. Everyone experiences discomfort differently, but treatments are tailored to maximise your comfort throughout.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on the pigment, depth, colour, age of the permanent make-up and your body's healing response. Some clients need only a few sessions, while others benefit from a more gradual programme.

Will all pigment disappear?

Although significant fading is often achievable, no treatment can guarantee complete removal in every case. Honest expectations form an important part of every consultation.

Can you tell me what I need from photographs?

Photographs can often provide useful guidance, but the most accurate recommendation can only be made after assessing your permanent make-up and skin in person.

Will I lose my eyebrow hair?

No. Every treatment is planned with the aim of preserving healthy skin and your natural hair while achieving the best possible correction.

Can I have new permanent make-up afterwards?

In many cases, yes. In fact, many correction programmes are specifically designed to prepare the skin for beautiful new permanent make-up.

Can microblading be removed?

Yes. Microblading can often be treated using laser, Botched Ink® or a combination of approaches, depending on how the pigment has healed and the results you're hoping to achieve.

Is there a risk of scarring?

When treatments are performed correctly, following appropriate aftercare, the risk of scarring is low. Your skin will always be carefully assessed before treatment to ensure the safest possible approach.

Ready To Restore Your Confidence

Whether you're considering complete removal, preparing for corrective permanent make-up or simply want honest advice about your options, your consultation is the first step.

Together we'll assess your existing permanent make-up, discuss your goals and create a personalised treatment plan designed around you.

Because successful correction isn't about choosing laser or saline.

It's about choosing the right solution for you.
