Map My Mole®

Expert Review of Moles and Skin Lesions, Without a Long Wait

Have you noticed a mole or skin lesion that is new, changing or simply causing you concern?

Map My Mole® provides quick access to an expert opinion from a UK-based consultant dermatologist without the need to wait for a routine dermatology appointment.

Using specialist dermoscopic imaging, I capture clear, highly magnified images of the lesion at my Grantham clinic. These are submitted securely, together with the relevant information about your skin and the changes you have noticed, for review by a consultant dermatologist.

You will then receive a written report explaining the findings and advising you of any recommended next steps.

Fast. Accessible. Professional. Reassuring.

Concerned About a Mole

or Skin Lesion?

It can be difficult to know whether a mark on your skin is something harmless or something that should be investigated further.

You may have:

  • Noticed a new mole or mark

  • Seen a change in size, shape or colour

  • Become concerned about a lesion that looks different from your others

  • Experienced itching, bleeding, crusting or irritation

  • Been advised to have a lesion checked before cosmetic removal

  • Found it difficult to access a timely appointment elsewhere

  • Simply decided that you would like professional reassurance

Map My Mole offers a straightforward way to obtain specialist guidance without immediately committing to a private face-to-face dermatology appointment.

What Is Map My Mole?

Map My Mole is a digital dermatology service connecting trained Clinics with UK based consultant Dermatologists.

During your appointment, a series of clinical and dermoscopic images is taken of each lesion being assessed. Dermoscopy allows structures and colours beneath the skin’s surface to be seen more clearly than they can be with the naked eye.

Your images and supporting information are uploaded securely for review. A consultant dermatologist then provides an indicative opinion and recommendations based on the information supplied.

Reports are normally returned within approximately 24–48 hours, although occasionally further information or images may be requested.

It is important to understand

Map My Mole is a professional lesion-review and triage service. It does not provide a definitive diagnosis of skin cancer and does not replace an examination, biopsy or histology where these are considered necessary.

A formal diagnosis can only be made through the appropriate medical pathway, which may include an in-person examination and laboratory analysis of a tissue sample.

Who Is This Service

Suitable for?

Map My Mole may be suitable when you have one or more specific moles or lesions that you would like professionally reviewed.

This can include:

An existing mole that appears to have changed

A newly noticed mole or pigmented mark

A lesion that looks different from your other moles

A mark that repeatedly catches, irritates or bleeds

A lesion you would like removed for cosmetic reasons

A lesion that cannot safely be treated without prior assessment

A pigmented or unusual area that is causing concern

          A lesion in a difficult-to-see area

You do not need to be considering cosmetic removal to use the service.

You may simply want greater clarity and advice about what to do next.

Map My Mole

Before Blemish Removal

At At In Sensu LTD, your safety comes before cosmetic treatment.

Many common skin blemishes are benign and can be treated successfully using methods such as thermolysis or cryotherapy. However, I will not remove a mole or lesion when its identity or suitability for treatment is uncertain.

I may recommend a Map My Mole assessment before removal when a lesion:

          Is pigmented

          Has changed in appearance

Has an unusual shape or colour

Does not have clearly recognisable benign characteristics

Has not previously been medically assessed

Is different from the client’s other moles or lesions

Has symptoms that require further investigation

This does not automatically mean that I believe the lesion is dangerous.

It means that obtaining appropriate specialist guidance is the safest and most responsible step before proceeding.

What Happens If The Report

Says the Lesion Appears Benign?

Where the dermatologist’s report is reassuring and the lesion is considered suitable for cosmetic treatment, we can discuss whether removal at At In Sensu is appropriate.

Depending on the type, size, location and characteristics of the lesion, treatment may involve:

          Thermolysis

          Cryotherapy

          Another suitable blemish-removal method

          Monitoring rather than immediate treatment

Referral to a different practitioner where required

Not every benign lesion is suitable for removal within the clinic, and the final decision will always be based on safety, expected healing and the likely cosmetic outcome.

What Happens If Further

Investigation is Recommended?

Your report will explain the recommended next step.

This may involve contacting your GP, arranging a face-to-face dermatology consultation or following a more urgent medical referral pathway.

Map My Mole does not make NHS referrals on your behalf, and any recommended follow-up remains your responsibility. I will, however, explain the report and help you understand what action has been advised.

Cosmetic treatment will not be performed on a lesion that requires further medical assessment.

When Should I Contact My

GP Directly?

Map My Mole is not an emergency or urgent-care service.

You should contact your GP promptly if you notice:

A mole that has changed in size, shape or colour

A lesion that is painful or persistently itchy

          Bleeding, inflammation or crusting

A new or unusual mark that has not disappeared after several weeks

          A rapidly growing lesion

A sore that repeatedly breaks down or does not heal

A significant change that is causing immediate concern

You do not need to wait for a Map My Mole appointment before seeking medical advice.

The ABCDE Guide to

Checking Your Moles

Knowing what is normal for your skin makes it easier to recognise changes.

A — Asymmetry

Does one half of the mole look different from the other?

B — Border

Are the edges irregular, blurred, jagged or poorly defined?

C — Colour

Does the lesion contain several colours or has its colour changed?

D — Diameter

Is it increasing in size or larger than approximately 6mm?

E — Evolving

Has it changed in size, shape, colour, texture or symptoms?

Not every melanoma follows the ABCDE pattern, and not every unusual mole is cancerous. Any persistent or concerning change should be assessed appropriately.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Map My Mole the Same as a Full-Body Mole Check?

No.

Map My Mole reviews specific moles or lesions selected for assessment. It is not a head-to-toe skin examination or full-body mole-mapping service.

When booking, please select the number of individual lesions you would like reviewed.

Will the Dermatologist Diagnose the Lesion?

The dermatologist provides an expert indicative opinion based on the submitted images and information.

A definitive medical diagnosis may require an in-person examination, biopsy and histology.

How Quickly Will I Receive My Report?

Reports are normally returned within approximately 24–48 hours.

Occasionally, additional images or information may be requested before the review can be completed.

Can All Moles Be Assessed?

Most visible skin lesions can be photographed, but some locations or lesion types may not be suitable for remote image-based assessment.

Where an adequate image cannot be obtained, you may be advised to seek a face-to-face medical examination instead.

Can You Remove the Lesion at the Same Appointment?

No.

Where Map My Mole assessment is required, I will wait for the consultant dermatologist’s report before considering treatment.

A separate blemish-removal appointment can then be arranged where appropriate.

Does a Benign Report Guarantee That the Lesion Will Be Removed?

No.

A reassuring report is only one part of determining suitability. The lesion’s type, location, size, healing risk and likely cosmetic outcome must also be considered.

What If the Dermatologist Recommends a Referral?

You will be advised to contact your GP or an appropriate private medical provider.

The report can be shared with the healthcare professional assessing you.

Can I Have Several Lesions Checked?

Yes.

You can book an assessment for one lesion, two lesions or up to five lesions during the same appointment.

Can I Use the Service Just for Reassurance?

Yes.

You do not need to be planning blemish removal. Many clients use the service because they have noticed a change or simply want an expert opinion.

Peace Of Mind

Most moles and skin lesions are harmless, but it is never advisable to guess.

Map My Mole offers a convenient route to specialist guidance, helping you understand whether a lesion can be monitored, requires medical assessment or may be suitable for cosmetic removal.

If something on your skin has been worrying you, professional advice can provide clarity and help you take the right next step.
